Aspen (aka Casebook Connect):

  1. While connected to the internet, log into Casebook Connect and open the casebook you need.
  2. In the blue toolbar across the top, select "Offline" and then "Save for Offline Use"
  3. Select the chapters and book sections you'd like to have available offline, then click "Generate Offline Link"
  4. After your link is generated, open it by clicking the link or by clicking "Copy" and pasting it into a new browser tab or window.
  5. Bookmark the link to access it easily later on.
    1. It may also be of use to include that link in your notes or outlines if permitted to view them during your exams.

You can view your links in Casebook Connect by selecting a book, then "Offline" and "View all offline links." For additional customer support and screenshots of these steps, please visit the Aspen Publishing support page on this topic.

Aspen "Learning Library":

You may have been assigned a supplement or Hornbook available on the Aspen learning library. In order to access it offline, you need to download an app available on Aspen Publishing's support page through which you may download the titles relevant to your needs. Aspen also provides a support page from which you may download the app suited for your device.

Lexis Digital Library for Lexis and Carolina Academic Press titles:

Titles from the Lexis Digital Library are available offline on your phone via the app, or they are downloaded automatically once a book is opened on a computer web browser. To toggle this feature, select "account", "download settings" and switch off Automatic Downloads.

To access downloaded LDL books from your web browser, navigate to "My Books" then "Downloaded" and bookmark the webpage and add the url to your notes or outline.

To access via App, you need to download it and, when prompted, provide the school code "fiu". Books are downloaded once opened in the app, but if you would like to manually download you can do so by:

  1. clicking "Read" on the desired book, then
  2. closing the book and tapping the cloud icon, then
  3. select "Download Title"

West Academic:

West Academic text books are available for offline reading using an app called "VitalSource" and it is different from the West Academic Library app discussed below. It is likely that your casebook from West Academic is here and not in West Academic Study Aids.

Here are instructions on how to set up the desktop or mobile app and access it offline:

  1. On eProducts.westacademic.com, click to open any book you purchased (if you have such a book).

    1. The system opens a page with the name of the book and a picture of its cover in the page header.

  2. Click the eBook button.
  3. From the eBook viewer that opens, click the home icon in the upper left corner.
  4. From the VitalSource Bookshelf online library that is displayed, click the account icon in the upper right corner, then select the Complete Your Account option. Your library displays the books you purchased.
  5. Follow the instructions to complete your account setup. After you provide your email and a password you can read your book offline with the VitalSource mobile and desktop apps.

For additional support and images of this process, please visit the support page located here.

West Academic Study Aids:

West Academic Study Aids is a platform for supplements, hornbooks, and other materials you may have been assigned. To read offline, you need to download the RedShelf App on the Apple or Google Play store. To get access offline, follow these instructions:

  1. Sign in to subscription.westacademic.com.
  2. Search for the book you would like to read offline and select it from the search results page.
  3. On the book detail page, click ‘Browse Book’ and select a chapter from the Table of Contents to open the book to that chapter.
  4. Scroll to the top of the page and click the ‘Open in RedShelf eReader’ button to open the book in the online reader. The book is now available for offline reading in the RedShelf app.
  5. Download the RedShelf app, available free in the Apple App store or Google Play store.
  6. In order to gain login credentials for the app, you will need to create a password for the RedShelf app. Simply select 'Forgot Password', enter the email address associated with your West Academic Study Aids Collection account, and click the 'Request Reset' button. You will receive an email with a password reset and should follow the instructions for creating a new password in order to sign in.

If you have an eBook or other materials you need to access offline which are not covered by the above instructions, please reach out to the law library so we may determine the best way for you to obtain access offline. Some books may allow you to print short amounts and/or save them as a PDF to your device, so please try that before contacting us.

Tomson Reuters ProView:

If you have a Tomson Reuters text, you may access it offline by using the ProView app. Instructions on how to access this app on different devices and download or access those titles are available here.
